I was a big fan of Top Gear when Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May were the presenters. I don’t drive and was never particular keen on cars, but the series were absolutely great comedy shows.
I tried but couldn’t get into the first season of The Grand Tour. The budget was a lot bigger due to Amazon’s backing, but something was missing from. People said the later seasons were a lot better, but I hadn’t watched them yet.
Session 1
It was Top Gear but with farming and I adored the shows.
Farming was hard work, the upfront capital was huge while the margin was thin. Because Clarkson was a celebrity and got Amazon’s check, he was able to run the business at a loss.
The regulations were complicated, he needed to get permission from local council to do many simple things.
My long term dream/goal/want was to retire with a garden growing vegetables, and some chickens for eggs. I would never dare going into farming after watching the show. Too much effort without adequate payoff.
Session 2
I found it even better than the first season. There were more drama with local council.
Looking forward to season 3.
